Crash closes I-40 east near Tennessee border

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Hurricane Isaias is now forecast to be a tropical storm when it reaches the North Carolina coast on Monday afternoon with winds around 70 mph.

As of 8 p.m., Isaias’ maximum sustained winds increased to 80 mph, while maintaining its 15 mph movement speed, according to the National Hurricane Center. The storm was projected about 310 miles southeast of The Bahamas as of the 8 p.m. storm advisory.
